Things to do

Visit us at Limousin Farm Holidays and you’ll find plenty to do outside of the farm in the local area. From walking to cycling, wildlife to watersports, there’s plenty to keep you and your family entertained all day long.

Wild boar

Amazing wildlife

If you love spending your holidays seeking out the local wildlife, our region is a gem. Heavily wooded, there’s an extensive network of rivers and lakes to explore where you’ll find a range of fascinating flora and fauna. Around the farm, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see wild boar, badgers, foxes, roe deer, beech martins and red squirrels.

Hoopoe

This area is also a birdwatchers paradise. We regularly see, red kites, owls, buzzards, osprey, woodpeckers, hoopoes and kingfishers. Make sure you bring your binoculars and visit our wetlands.

Explore by bike or foot

There are many kilometres of tracks, in the woods and between local hamlets. We can provide you with maps and route suggestions, and if you don’t have bikes, no problem, you can borrow them from us.

Stunning lakes and watersports

The nearest lake with a beach is in La Souterraine. It’s clean and safe for swimming and has a playpark and restaurant. If you’re a fan of watersports, many lakes and some rivers have canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and waterskiing. Check out Lac d'EguzonLac de Saint-Pardoux, and Lac de Vassivière.

Go riding

If you want to get the full cowboy and Indian experience and take in the countryside on horseback, there are a number of local trekking centres that you can visit, including La Vergnolle horseriding centre.

Swing through the trees

Give the kids something to really go ape about. Kids from 4-5 (and adults) love the sheer exhilaration of activity centres such as Tarz en Arbre Limoges and Arbre en Arbre Vassivière.

Culture, sports and leisure in our nearest town

The nearest town to La Tuilerie is La Souterraine (6km away) where you’ll find a good selection of independent shops plus large supermarkets like Carrefour, banks, a cultural centre, sports centre and a cinema (with some English language films). In the centre of this pretty old market town is a medieval church that’s worth a visit. Plus, there are a good selection of restaurants, and a local produce market twice a week where you can stock up on local cheeses, meats and other delicious treats.

Other local outdoor attractions

Also within easy reach of our farm are the wolf park Les loups de Chabrières at Guéret, the giant maze and activity park Labyrinthe Géant des monts de Guéret and the famous WWII village of Oradour-sur-Glanes
